Jordan’s magnificent, otherworldly Wadi Rum desert terrain was the setting of Leo’s fifth challenge. With an awe-inspiring landscape of sandstone cliffs and canyons, vast dunes and rich, vibrant colours, Leo likened it to what it would probably be like to run on Mars. In stark contrast to its beauty, the 42km course was also brutal, with the wind and sand forming a complex union to beat and many steep uphill gradients to navigate in the heat.
